Geneva is pleased to send 10 students to the Region 6 Junior Classical League tournament in Winter Springs.  The students will compete in various categories including mythology, Latin grammar and vocabulary.

Winners of the regional tournaments proceed to the state competition. Winners at each state level go on to compete in the National Junior Classical League competition this summer in San Antonio Texas. The theme of this year’s national competition is: tu ne cede malis, sed contra audentior ito. Vergil, Aeneid VI.95  (Yield not to misfortunes, but advance all the more boldly against them.)

The purpose of  JCL is to encourage an interest in and an appreciation of the language, literature, and culture of ancient Greece and Rome and to impart an understanding of the debt of our own culture to that of Classical antiquity.
