2015 8th Grade Accolade Ceremony Took Place This Week

Accolade is defined as an award or privilege granted as a special honor or as an acknowledgement of merit.  It can also mean a touch on a person’s shoulders with a sword at the bestowing of knighthood.

Since our early days, Geneva Classical Academy has made 8th Grade Accolade an important part of our tradition of discipling young men and women to mature godliness.  It is a mark of accomplishment and a rite of passage for our students as they are challenged to allow the grace of Christ to work in their lives and live according the principles of the Christian faith.  It marks their movement from the Dialectic Stage to the Rhetoric Stage of development, so we congratulate them for what they’ve accomplished and look forward to what God will continue to do in them.

Sir Douglas Smith gave a charge to and Sir Michael Strawbridge dubbed this year’s class at our ceremony this past Tuesday.  Psalm 145:4 says, “One generation shall commend your works to another and shall declare your might acts.”  We seek to pass this rich heritage to every Geneva student.
